FIND OUT WHERE TO BEGIN!

see Seasonal Structure for a visual representation of how our teaching evolves over the calendar year

CORE FOUNDATION CLASSES

Begin here if you’re brand new to yoga or simply new to MYOGA.  Each yoga style has its own language & it pays to build a foundation of fundamentals with the Core practices.

Basics is a 6 week introduction to MYOGA that focuses on building strength, opening into flexibility & cultivating awareness & coordination of body, breath & mind through the process. The Basics Series is the core of the MYOGA practice. These 65 minute practices evolve over the 6 weeks from focus on core, spine & breath in the 1st week to moving into Down Dog with awareness in the 6th week, however you may join in at any week!

Breathing Room This 50 minute session focuses on opening the breathing muscles in the torso, developing pranayam practices as tools for awareness, energy, balance & cooling or heating the physical & emotional bodies.  Conscious Breath is understood as the wave or rhythm that the rest of the postures & practices ride on so this is a fantastic place to begin, or to return to even if you’re experienced.  Mantra will also be employed to increase breathing capacity & to apply the vibratory benefits of Nada Yoga.  Suitable for anyone, recommended for everyone! (Breathing Room returns mid-year)

Slow MYOGA is a 75 minute session for those who have been injured, have trouble sitting on the ground or feel like “the elephant in the room.”  This practice utilizes the support of walls, chairs, blocks, bolsters, straps, & any other useful prop we can find to develop awareness of your body’s alignment as it is in this moment, refine the movement of joints, the strengthening & stretching of muscles & the harder work of accepting where you are right now!  Suitable for anyone, recommended for everyone!

Restore MYOGA, unlike Slow Yoga, is not focused on strengthening, but on easy stretching & learning the skills of letting go, draping & re-establishing stability & centredness. In this 90 minute session, we apply mindfulness to conscious breathing, the use of sound/mantra, accepting the support of bolsters, blocks & walls, & to self-massage of face & neck. In this practice we learn how to be human Beings instead of human Doings!  Suitable for anyone, recommended for everyone!

SEASONAL FOCUS CLASSES–intermediate to advanced levels

40 Day Sadhana Seasonal Structure, Multi-Level classes involve centering, warming up, going deeper & integration–all based around the current seasonal focus. We follow one sequence for 40 days, based on the Seasonal Structure, which gives time to go deeper without losing interest! Shorter classes in the morning are considered more advanced & lunchtime classes are an abbreviated/accessible version, so if you’re new to Multi-Level try the 90 minute evening version or the 50 minute lunchtime classes. Please check with us first if you’re new to MYOGA or the Multi-Level classes & unsure of where to start!

40 Day Sadhana Seasonal Structure, Early Morning Classes are a challenge! This practice creates a new habit of movement, breath & awareness in your life. The practice will be the same throughout, giving you an opportunity to truly embody some key postures/exercises & to see your progress from day 1 to day 40 (yes, including weekends!).  There are seven 6-week Sadhanas paced through the year, taking holidays into account as much as possible. “Sadhana is self-enrichment. It is not something which is done to please somebody or to gain something. Sadhana is a personal process in which you bring out your best.” ~ Yogi Bhajan.  Each sadhana focuses on a particular “tricky” pose (asana) & chakra (energy centre) & as we move through the year the last sadhana sets us up for the next, and yet each is a thorough practice within itself. You’ll gain the most benefit from this programme by committing to all 40 Days, however drop-ins are welcome in the first 5 weeks of each sadhana’s 6 week run.  If you’re a beginner though, please consider starting with the Core practices above.

Flow MYOGA assumes prior experience with the MYOGA style & languaging. From a foundation in the Core Foundation Classes to an awareness of the current Seasonal Sadhana focus, we build outwards in wider gestures that flow together & touch on the key “tricky” poses in each of the seven seasonal sadhanas.  This is a comprehensive & intensive practice so please enquire if you’re unsure of suitability!  This practice is not suitable for drop-ins who have not yet done the current sadhana.

PERIPHERALS

MYOGA for Mums enables you to connect with other pre or post-natal women while tuning into your own breath, body & baby.  No experience is necessary & you can start at the point in your pregnancy or after giving birth, when you feel ready–many pre-natal women wait until their 2nd trimester & many post-natal women wait until about 6 weeks after birthing to begin. Our focus here is on opening the hips, relieving tension in the shoulder mantle, creating a level of familiarity with conscious breathing & making sound through bij mantras (seed sounds like Ma, Hum, Ong & Sa-Ta-Na-Ma), cultivating awareness of the muscles involved in natural birth through pelvic floor exercises & also developing a conscious relationship with sensation through safe, yet intense, exercises.

Current Sadhana Experiential Intensives are a way for those immersed in the current sadhana series to take the practice to a deeper, stronger level. This 3 hour practice offers an extended experiential sense of the current chakra & asana focus, some anatomy & physiology, meditation, relaxation, mantra & often partner work. Please contact us to discuss suitability & registration.  Priced separately, though member discounts apply–see Price Structure page please!

Weekend Workshops will be added intermittently through the year & may include Partner, Family or Kids Yoga, Kundalini & Nada Yoga.   Priced separately though member discounts apply–see Price Structure page please!
